Commissioned by the Abbey Theatre in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Colm wrote Something Worth Saying. Recorded and performed by actor Owen Roe, this monologue was shared through the Abbey Theatre’s YouTube channel, as part of the four-part Dear Ireland series, which included commissions from other Irish writers of note including Edna O’Brien, Joseph O’Connor, and Blindboy Boatclub. Charting an ageing man’s journey toward reconciliation with his estranged daughter, Something Worth Saying is a study in the effects of isolation and the indomitable capacities of the human heart in the face of adversity.
“Exquisite and Devastating.” Emer O’ Kelly, Irish Independent.
