About
This participatory project by Sarah Browne, commissioned by South Dublin County Council, explores ‘feelings’ – like joy, shame, anger and depression – not only as individual emotions, but as shared social realities. An installation piece aiming to question how we occupy everyday spaces such as the gym or leisure centre, Public Feeling re-imagined the collective experiences in such settings.
Drawing on workshops facilitated in leisure centres, Colm recorded a series of poems responding to physical movement, exercise, and the demands made of the body. These pieces were played to participants while exercising in an immersive gym setting, calling them to question their relationships to exercises, their body, the state, and each other.
