About the Project
An innovative course of lectures and workshops, Connected Voices in Learning was a programme designed to give voice to the student experience and celebrate the diversity of backgrounds among the student population of the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown. Colm delivered a lecture series to first year Creative and Digital Media students which focused on Literature as the centre of Digital Creative Practice. Devising a program of workshops which allowed students to develop their personal written expression, Colm provided space, freedom and respect which allowed participants to share their learning journeys.
Under Colm’s tutorship participants developed a collective piece entitled Here We Come which was performed at AHead’s annual conference on Universal Design which took place in the Helix Theatre. Here We Come takes pride of place in the first-year students handbook, which is delivered to all incoming students to TUD Blanchardstown. The piece was also a part of a European Erasmus UDLL project involving AHEAD, ITB, with partners in Belgium and Norway, with a copy of the poem was presented to An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in 2019.
